Does God Exist? Empty Does God Exist?

Post by KrisChan 2008-06-02, 18:26

Before you and I even started to exist in this world, this question has long been argued with almost anyone with an inquisitive mind. And from those old old times up to the present, this question has not yet been settled. Although our forum does not promise anything like it will finally be resolved or decided unanimously, it's still evidently essential that we should also discuss it here.

Present day arguers who'd like to affirm or negate this issue may share new views or just repeat/reinvent the fundamental arguments of ancient philosophers, theologians, or whoever Pontius Pilate you know.

Please do not let yourself be tempted to digress from this particular question alone. Other broader topics that you deem similar to this question is better discussed in a separate thread. Let's all take this as level-headed as we can, and don't be easily offended by others refuting yours.

Does God Exist? Empty Re: Does God Exist?

Well, i have never met anybody who did not believe in God or a god's existence.
This could be a perfect place to meet one and discuss about it.

Does God Exist? Empty Re: Does God Exist?

Yes, I have met a lot of people who do not believe in God. To me the greatest evidence of God is my personal experiences of prayer and the undeniable answers I have received form God, I invite any one to look at my life and expalin it with out God.

If some one is interested in listening, Perry Marshall has some thing interesting to say about the origin of the Universe and about the existence of God. Kindly look at cosmicfingerprints.com and make your comments.

God bless

Does God Exist? Empty Handling the Truth

Post by butzyzk 2008-06-12, 12:52

This I read from Perry Marshall:
" What it does (the Truth) give us is the right - and the confidence - to go out into the marketplace of ideas and *see* if our Truth stands up to hard scrutiny.
C.S. Lewis was talking about this very thing when he said, 'You don't need to defend a Lion. You just need to let him out of his cage.'
If you really do have the truth, then you have nothing to fear. You don't need to burn books or censor speech. Truth is its own best defense."

With that thought, let us continue to go out into the marketplace of ideas and see if our Truth stands up to hard scrutiny.

Does God Exist? Empty Re: Does God Exist?

Post by Isaac 2008-06-26, 02:06

"Does God exist?"

I remember Bob Ong describing ticks having an argument with one another, "do dogs exist?"

Many philosophers had taught of that question long ago before ours. "The debate concerning the existence of God raises many philosophical issues. A basic problem is that there is no universally accepted definition of God. Some definitions of God's existence are so non-specific that it is certain that something exists that meets the definition; in stark contrast, there are suggestions that other definitions are self-contradictory. (Wikipedia)"

This is a question which raised series of arguments about a being incapable of men to comprehend, as per Isaiah 55:8-9, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."

Should we speak of Christian faith, we believe God exists simply because we have faith, our assurance of what we hope for, and our proof of what we cannot see. If we are able to prove God's existence based from what we can sense, we don't have faith, do we?

Now, what does the Bible says about the things we aren't suppose to think of?
Romans 12:3 KJV, "For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith."
Our belief in God's existence, as Christians, should be based on faith, not by profane talk and arguments (I Timothy 6:20). It will just raise arguments that would seem going nowhere, which we must avoid.
Titus 3:9, "But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain."
God need not to be proved by any man, for Christ himself will prove to everyone that God really exists (1 Timothy 6:14-16). All Christians should simply have faith that He do exist.
